Gorrell

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Issued 03 February 2026

Your local beat officer has been in contact with Speedwatch following a recent speeding operation at Borstal Hill. Beat teams will be carrying out further speeding checks in the area whenever they are able to do so.

We are also working with the council’s traffic‑enforcement team and are planning a number of joint operations to address parking concerns.

Dog fouling.

Issued 03 February 2026

Local beat officers have received no reports of dog fouling in the Gorrell area. Any incidents of dog fouling should be reported directly to Canterbury City Council, as they are the organisation responsible for dealing with this issue.

Actioned 17 March 2026

Homelessness/begging.

Issued 03 February 2026

PC Powell responded to concerns about a homeless man whose belongings and clothing had been left in the doorway of the former Costa Coffee building. After making enquiries with local partners, it appeared the items may have been abandoned. PC Powell then contacted Canterbury City Council so the belongings could be collected safely and appropriately.
At the same time, PC Powell reached out to the man’s support worker at Porchlight to make sure his welfare was checked and that he was offered help. Ensuring vulnerable people are supported remains a priority, and this partnership working helps make sure no one is left without the care they need.
