Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

Local officers have been dealing with ongoing problems caused by nuisance motorbikes. Officers have been patrolling areas where residents have reported noisy and dangerous riding. One person linked to nuisance riding had a Community Protection Warning in place. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning given when someone’s behaviour is having a negative impact on the local community. It sets clear rules that must be followed to stop the behaviour. The warning has now ended after checks showed the individual followed the conditions, and there has been a clear improvement in their behaviour.

In another case, an illegal Surron‑style motorbike was seized, and the rider was reported for riding without insurance.

Officers have also gathered information to identify where nuisance motorbikes were being ridden for recreation and where they were being stored. This activity has now been disrupted, helping to reduce further problems in the area.

Road safety issues.

Issued 03 February 2026

Traffic Offence Reports will be issued to drivers who commit moving traffic offences identified by police, such as driving without insurance or not wearing a seatbelt. A Traffic Offence Report is a formal report that can lead to a fine, penalty points, or further action.

In the coming weeks, officers will carry out targeted operations to tackle traffic and road safety problems in the area. These will focus on issues such as speeding, seizing vehicles, and dealing with other road‑related offences.

Actioned 23 March 2026

Catapults.

Issued 03 February 2026

Local officers are continuing to take action to deal with catapult‑related incidents and antisocial behaviour.

Following reports in the Singleton area, officers stopped two young people after concerns were raised about catapults being used nearby, including worries about harm to wildlife. The young people were spoken to by officers and Acceptable Behaviour Agreements were offered. An Acceptable Behaviour Agreement sets clear rules and positive actions to help stop unacceptable behaviour. It allows the police to work with the young person and their parents, and includes both supportive and restrictive conditions.

Officers are also visiting schools to talk to young people about the rules and dangers around using catapults. Foot patrols are continuing in areas where problems have been reported.

In a separate case, a person living in the Stanhope area was given a Community Protection Warning due to antisocial behaviour involving catapults. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning telling someone their behaviour must change. This warning includes strict rules, such as not having a catapult. Any further breaches could lead to stronger enforcement action being taken.
