Issued 03 February 2026

Traffic Offence Reports will be issued to drivers who commit moving traffic offences identified by police, such as driving without insurance or not wearing a seatbelt. A Traffic Offence Report can result in penalty points, a fine, or court action.

In the coming weeks, targeted operations will be carried out to tackle traffic and road safety issues in the area. These will focus on speeding, vehicle seizures, and other driving offences that put people at risk.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

Local officers have been dealing with ongoing problems caused by nuisance motorbikes. Officers have been patrolling areas where residents have reported noisy and dangerous riding.

One person linked to nuisance riding previously had a Community Protection Warning in place. The warning has now ended after checks showed the individual followed the conditions, and there has been a clear improvement in their behaviour. In another case, an illegal Surron‑style motorbike was seized, and the rider was reported for riding without insurance.

Officers have also gathered information to identify where nuisance motorbikes were being used for recreation and where they were being stored. This activity has now been disrupted, helping to reduce further problems in the area.

Actioned 24 March 2026

Catapults.

Issued 03 February 2026

Local officers are continuing to take action to deal with catapult‑related incidents and antisocial behaviour.

Following reports in the Singleton area, officers spoke with two young people after concerns were raised about catapults being used nearby, including worries about harm to wildlife. Acceptable Behaviour Agreements were offered. An Acceptable Behaviour Agreement sets clear rules and positive actions and helps the police work with the young person and their parents to stop unacceptable behaviour. These agreements can include both supportive and restrictive conditions.

Officers are also visiting schools to talk to young people about the rules and dangers around using catapults. Foot patrols are continuing in areas where problems have been reported.

In a separate case, a person living in the Stanhope area was given a Community Protection Warning due to anti‑social behaviour involving catapults. A Community Protection Warning sets strict conditions, such as not having a catapult. Any further breaches could lead to stronger enforcement action being taken.
