Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Nuisance motorbikes.

Issued 21 April 2026

Officers have continued to address concerns relating to nuisance and antisocial motorcycle use within the Park ward. Following reports from residents, an individual responsible for riding in a manner that caused nuisance and concern to the local community was identified and dealt with by officers. Encouragingly, no further reports relating to this individual have been received.

To help prevent further issues and provide reassurance to residents, regular high-visibility patrols continue in key locations, including Crescent Road Car Park, which has previously been the subject of reports of antisocial behaviour. Officers will continue to patrol known hotspot areas, respond to information from the community and take appropriate action where offences are identified.

Drug dealing.

Issued 21 April 2026

Tackling drug-related activity remains a priority for neighbourhood officers in the Park area. Regular patrols are carried out in locations where concerns about drug use and dealing have been raised, helping to deter offending, gather intelligence and provide reassurance to residents. These patrols also create opportunities to identify individuals involved in drug-related activity and take appropriate action where necessary.

Officers continue to work proactively to disrupt drug-related behaviour through intelligence-led patrols, community engagement and targeted enforcement. This ongoing activity helps reduce the impact of drug-related crime and supports efforts to keep public spaces safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Actioned 21 July 2026

Catapults.

Issued 21 April 2026

Following reports from members of the public, officers identified 2 young people responsible for using a catapult to kill a pigeon in the town centre. Enquiries were completed promptly, and evidence was secured to support further action. The incident has been recorded as a crime and remains under investigation.

The misuse of catapults can cause significant harm to wildlife, damage property and cause distress to members of the public. Kent Police takes these incidents seriously and will continue to investigate reports, identify those responsible and take appropriate action where offences are committed. We encourage residents to continue reporting any concerns, as information from the community plays a vital role in helping officers tackle this issue and protect local wildlife.
