Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour - general.

Issued 15 April 2026

Shop theft has become a focus within the ward, particularly at the Co-op on the High Street. Officers have adopted a problem-solving approach, working closely with store staff and carrying out regular high-visibility patrols to deter offending and provide reassurance.

Additional security measures have been introduced by the store, alongside crime prevention advice from officers, which has helped reduce the theft of higher-value items. Previous investigations also resulted in two offenders being arrested and charged in connection with multiple theft offences.

While some low-value shop thefts continue to be reported, the number of incidents has reduced. Officers continue to work closely with local businesses, review reports and pursue opportunities to identify and deal with repeat offenders.

High-visibility and plain-clothed patrols also continue in key locations to tackle antisocial behaviour and help keep the area safe for residents, businesses and visitors.

Nuisance motorbikes.

Issued 15 April 2026

Reports of nuisance motorbikes have reduced compared with previous reporting periods, and they are not currently considered a significant issue within the ward.

Officers will continue to monitor the situation and review reports to ensure any emerging problems are identified and addressed at an early stage. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting nuisance motorcycle activity, as information from the public helps officers identify hotspot locations, understand patterns of behaviour and direct patrols where they are needed most.

Where offences or antisocial behaviour are identified, appropriate action will be taken. This may include a Section 59 warning, which can be issued when a vehicle is being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance. If the behaviour continues, the vehicle can be seized.

Ongoing monitoring and community reporting help officers respond effectively and maintain public safety.

Actioned 02 July 2026

E-scooters/e-bikes.

Issued 15 April 2026

E-bikes and e-scooters continue to be a concern within the ward, particularly where they are being used in an antisocial manner.

Officers are using both high-visibility and plain-clothed patrols to identify and deal with offenders. This proactive approach has led to positive results, including the seizure of an e-bike and enforcement action after officers stopped individuals suspected of committing offences.

Where offences are identified, officers will take appropriate action, which may include the seizure of vehicles, the issue of warnings or other enforcement measures. If illegal drugs or other offences are discovered, further action will also be considered.

Officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols, gather information and respond to reports from the public. This work aims to improve safety, reduce antisocial behaviour and encourage the lawful use of e-bikes and e-scooters within the community.
