Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Road safety.

Issued 15 April 2026

Road safety has remained a priority over the last 3 months, with officers carrying out speed checks on local roads in response to concerns raised by residents.

Where offences have been identified, drivers have been dealt with through Traffic Offence Reports. A Traffic Offence Report is a formal report used when a driver is suspected of committing a road traffic offence. Alongside enforcement, officers also provide advice and education to encourage safer driving.

This ongoing activity aims to improve driver behaviour, reduce risks to pedestrians and other road users, and address concerns raised by the local community. Officers will continue to carry out road safety enforcement and patrols to help keep the area's roads safe.

Drink/drug driving.

Issued 15 April 2026

Road safety remains a priority, and officers continue to target drivers who put themselves and others at risk.

As part of targeted enforcement activity, officers stopped and arrested a driver suspected of both drink-driving and drug-driving. The driver was taken into custody, and blood samples were obtained as part of the investigation. The individual has since been released on bail while the results of further forensic testing are awaited.

This type of proactive enforcement helps identify dangerous drivers and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to improving road safety and protecting all road users from harm.

E-scooters/e-bikes.

Issued 15 April 2026

Over the last 3 months, officers have continued to respond to concerns about nuisance motorcycles, e-bikes and similar vehicles in the Somerhill Road and Lodge Oak Lane areas.

Targeted patrols and enforcement activity have been carried out in locations identified through community reports and local intelligence. Officers continue to monitor incidents and gather information to help identify those responsible and address concerns raised by residents.

Although no nuisance motorcycles were identified during a recent dedicated enforcement operation, reports continue to be reviewed and used to guide future patrols and enforcement activity. Information provided by the public remains important in helping officers build a clearer picture of when and where issues are occurring.

Where offences or antisocial behaviour are identified, appropriate action will be taken. This may include a Section 59 warning, which can be issued when a vehicle is being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance. If the behaviour continues, the vehicle can be seized.

Officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols and work with the community to reduce antisocial behaviour, improve safety and address concerns about nuisance vehicles in the area.
