Sevenoaks Town and St John's

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Shoplifting.

Issued 03 February 2026

Sevenoaks Town Centre has recently seen incidents of shoplifting. These have been addressed through strong partnership working between the Business Crime Reduction Partnership, Sevenoaks town centre CCTV, local shopkeepers and Kent Police.

Over the past three months, town centre officers and the local Beat Team have carried out targeted patrols, stop searches and arrests linked to shoplifting offences.

Kent Police also supported Retail Crime Awareness Week between Monday 16 and Sunday 22 March. During this week, officers made a number of arrests following proactive patrols and stop searches in the town centre.

Vehicle crime.

Issued 03 February 2026

Vehicle crime continues to be an issue across the Sevenoaks district and surrounding areas, with offenders targeting both vehicles and items left inside them.

Beat officers have increased patrols in areas identified as hotspots and are working closely with intelligence teams and neighbouring police forces to help identify those responsible.

Officers are also providing crime‑prevention advice to residents and encouraging people to report any suspicious activity promptly. This helps ensure police resources are directed to the areas where they are needed most.

Violence against women and girls.

Issued 03 February 2026

Kent Police is actively working to tackle violence against women and girls by holding offenders to account, supporting victims, and helping to create safer public spaces.

This work includes increased patrols, both uniformed and plain‑clothes, to help identify predatory behaviour. Targeted activity is also carried out to safeguard women during the night‑time economy.

On Friday 6 March 2026, local beat officers and the Child‑Centred Policing Team attended the International Women’s Day event at The Bat & Ball Centre. Officers provided advice, engagement and reassurance to women and girls in the community.

Anyone with safety concerns is encouraged to report them to the police.
