Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

patrol to deter crime and reassure the public
hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns
work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups
tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability
build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

While reports have remained low during this reporting period, officers continue to carry out patrols where appropriate, providing reassurance to residents and maintaining a visible presence in the community. This priority will be reviewed to ensure it continues to reflect the concerns and needs of local residents. Officers encourage the public to continue reporting incidents and concerns, as information from the community helps identify emerging issues, direct resources effectively and take action where necessary to prevent problems from developing. Through ongoing patrols, community engagement and proactive problem-solving, officers remain committed to maintaining community safety and improving the quality of life for residents. These provide opportunities for people to speak directly with officers, raise concerns and share feedback about issues affecting their area. Recent engagement has focused on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), helping officers and partner agencies better understand concerns about personal safety and identify locations where residents may feel vulnerable or unsafe. Information gathered through these conversations helps shape patrol plans, problem-solving activity and partnership work aimed at reducing crime, antisocial behaviour and harassment. Officers encourage residents to continue engaging with local policing teams and sharing their views, as community feedback plays a vital role in helping create safer public spaces and ensuring police activity remains focused on the issues that matter most to local people. Shoplifting. Issued 20 July 2026	Officers continue to work closely with local businesses and partner organisations to tackle shoplifting and retail crime in the town centre. Regular information sharing helps officers identify repeat offenders, gather intelligence and take positive action where offences are committed. Officers respond to reports of shoplifting whenever possible and carry out follow-up enquiries to identify suspects and support investigations. Through partnership working, a range of measures are used to address persistent offending and support local businesses. This includes crime prevention advice, intelligence gathering and the use of appropriate enforcement powers where necessary. Officers remain committed to reducing retail crime, supporting businesses and improving safety for staff, customers and visitors. Businesses are encouraged to continue reporting all incidents of shoplifting, as information provided by retailers helps officers build a clearer intelligence picture, identify repeat offenders and target enforcement activity where it is needed most. Through ongoing patrols, partnership working and enforcement activity, officers continue to work to reduce retail crime and improve community confidence in the town centre.
