Harrietsham, Lenham & North Downs

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Road safety issues.

Issued 03 February 2026

A new initiative has started working with local schools to raise awareness about speeding near schools and in villages.

Community Speedwatch activity has also taken place in several locations across the area. This has resulted in Traffic Offence Reports being issued for speeding, as well as drivers being spoken to and given advice where appropriate.

Actioned 30 March 2026

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

High‑visibility patrols have been increased around Lenham Cross, Pilgrims Way and the Lenham bridleways.

A number of days of action are planned over the coming months. These will use additional officers from across the force to help tackle ongoing issues and provide reassurance to the community.

Actioned 30 March 2026

Catapults.

Issued 03 February 2026

We are aware of an increase in reports involving groups of young people using catapults in and around Lenham High Street. Catapults have been identified as a wider issue, as they can be used to cause damage to property or harm wildlife.

While we await clearer national guidance on carrying catapults in public places, officers continue to patrol areas of concern. We are also raising awareness through local schools and, where appropriate, using educational workbooks with young people found in possession of catapults to explain the risks and consequences of this behaviour.

Actioned 30 March 2026
