Hempstead and Wigmore

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

We know nuisance motorcycles remain an issue in the area. Officers have increased visible patrols, spoken to repeat offenders and provided reassurance to local residents.

During a recent operation in Hempstead, an electric bike being ridden antisocially was stopped and seized after it was found to be illegally modified to reach speeds of more than 30mph. Officers are now working with local schools and the shopping centre to improve awareness and help identify those responsible, while encouraging residents to report concerns safely and lawfully.

Road safety issues.

Issued 03 February 2026

We carried out high‑visibility patrols in areas where residents reported racing and dangerous driving. Officers also worked with Speedwatch volunteers, who continue to monitor Hoath Way when possible.

On 16 March, traffic officers carried out speed checks on Hoath Way using new equipment and identified a large number of speeding drivers, who will be contacted. A further operation is planned for 25 March in Hempstead, Hoath Way and Wigmore Road. We are also meeting with the council and residents on 8 April to look at longer‑term road safety measures.

Theft - shoplifting.

Issued 03 February 2026

We have increased high‑visibility patrols to tackle shoplifting and are working more closely with local shops to improve evidence gathering and information sharing. Officers are carrying out plain‑clothes patrols in shopping areas across Wigmore and Hempstead to identify offenders and support staff.

We are also meeting with more local businesses and encouraging them to report every incident and share images where possible. This helps us identify repeat offenders and take quicker action.
