Concerns about the illegal and unsafe use of e-scooters and e-bikes continue to be raised by residents. Officers regularly patrol locations where issues are reported, speaking with riders about the law and the importance of using these vehicles safely and responsibly. Where offences are identified, officers will take appropriate action, which may include seizing vehicles and issuing penalties.

This remains an ongoing issue across the wider area, and officers continue to carry out targeted activity to address illegal and dangerous riding. Alongside enforcement, officers work with local retailers to help ensure they understand the laws relating to the sale and use of e-scooters and e-bikes so they can provide accurate information to customers. By combining education, engagement and enforcement, officers aim to improve safety for riders, pedestrians and other road users.

Drug dealing.

PC Godden understands the impact that drug use and drug dealing can have on local communities and continue to take reports from residents seriously. Information provided by the public, alongside patrols and work with partner organisations, helps officers identify areas of concern and focus their activity where it is most needed. Where appropriate, officers may carry out stop and searches. A stop and search allows officers to search a person, vehicle or property when there are legal grounds to suspect they may be carrying illegal items, such as drugs. Officers may also make arrests as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crime and reduce the harm it causes.

Information from residents remains vital in helping officers understand local concerns and identify those involved in criminal activity. Anyone with concerns about drug-related activity is encouraged to share information through local engagement events or community messaging channels. Reports from the public help officers build a clearer picture of local issues and support efforts to keep neighbourhoods safe.

Antisocial behaviour - general.

PC Godden continues to focus on tackling antisocial behaviour in areas where residents and businesses have reported concerns. Regular patrols take place in parks, streets and other public spaces, providing opportunities to engage with young people, address concerns and explain the impact that disruptive behaviour can have on the wider community.

Police are also working closely with the local council to address persistent antisocial behaviour. Where appropriate, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices have been issued. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning given when someone's behaviour is having a negative impact on the local community. If the behaviour continues, a Community Protection Notice may be issued, requiring the person responsible to stop the behaviour. Failure to comply can result in further enforcement action. These powers help police and partner agencies deal with ongoing antisocial behaviour and improve the quality of life for local residents.
