Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance

Issued 03 February 2026

Regular high‑visibility patrols have been carried out across the town centre, and Section 34 dispersal powers have been used when necessary to reduce antisocial behaviour and disorder. These powers allow officers to require individuals to leave an area for a set period of time to prevent further issues.

We have been working with Swale Borough Council and the building owners to ensure the site is properly secured, preventing access and reducing related antisocial behaviour and safety concerns. Officers regularly review Swale Borough Council CCTV, identify suspects and carry out home visits. This work has been supported by Child‑Centred Policing Team (CCPT) officers to make sure appropriate follow‑up and intervention takes place.

We have also enforced the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) and issued Community Protection Warnings (CPWs), which formally tell someone that their behaviour must stop. As a result of this work, street drinkers have been moved away from the immediate town‑centre area.

Criminal damage.

Issued 03 February 2026

We have increased high‑visibility patrols in affected locations and worked closely with Swale Borough Council and property owners to make sure damaged sites — especially those vulnerable to break‑ins or antisocial behaviour — are properly secured and monitored. Officers have regularly reviewed Swale Borough Council CCTV to identify suspects, leading to follow‑up home visits with support from Child‑Centred Policing officers.

Where criminal damage is linked to wider antisocial behaviour or youth‑related concerns, we have gathered intelligence, engaged with residents and taken appropriate enforcement action to prevent further damage.

Nuisance vehicles.

Issued 03 February 2026

You told us that nuisance vehicles, particularly e‑scooters and electric bikes were causing problems in the town centre. In response, officers targeted the key locations linked to illegal e‑scooter and e‑bike use. This work has resulted in several seizures, and regular patrols now show a noticeable decrease in these vehicles being seen on the streets.

We have also carried out several traffic operations, which led to multiple drivers being reported for offences, vehicles being seized for having no insurance and drugs being recovered during searches.
