Teynham and Lynsted

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

E-scooters/e-bikes.

Issued 03 February 2026

A joint operation was carried out across the Teynham and West Downs wards, involving high‑visibility patrols to provide reassurance and address community concerns. During this operation, several vehicles and individuals were stopped for issues ranging from vehicle defects to Traffic Offence Reports (TORs). Officers also seized e‑scooters and a van as part of this enforcement activity.

Theft shoplifting.

Issued 03 February 2026

There have been multiple arrests of prolific shoplifters. Three offenders were arrested last week, refused bail and remanded to appear in court the following day. Other offenders remain under investigation, and officers will continue to disrupt their behaviour, gather evidence and pursue further arrests where needed.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

PC Divers led a plain‑clothes operation targeting those responsible. One bike was successfully stopped, and the rider — a prolific local offender — was arrested. A 15‑year‑old has since been charged with several offences, including failing to stop, driving without a licence, no insurance, no tax, no MOT and a Section 5 Public Order offence.

Between 1 December 2025 and 27 January 2026, police received 37 calls about nuisance bikes in this area. Since the arrest and seizure, there have been no further calls, and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.
