North Downs East

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Road safety.

Issued 03 February 2026

Community Speedwatch volunteers continue to monitor speeding hotspots across North Downs East, with a particular focus on the Densole area. The Kent and Medway Speedwatch van has also been deployed to support this work.

Information is being gathered on roads where speeding remains a regular concern. This will be shared with partner organisations so they can consider whether 20 miles per hour limits may be suitable in certain locations around Hawkinge. This work is being supported by Hawkinge Town Council.

Actioned 31 March 2026

Nuisance motorcycles and/or e-scooters.

Issued 03 February 2026

There has been an increase in reports of nuisance motorbikes and e‑scooters in the East Downs ward. Similar issues have also been identified in the western areas of Dover.

In response, Community Safety Officers from Dover and Folkestone carried out proactive patrols across the neighbouring areas and followed up enquiries. This work resulted in four arrests and the recovery of three stolen motorbikes.

Community Safety Officers in Folkestone and Dover will continue to target those involved in motorbike theft and anyone riding vehicles in a reckless or dangerous way that puts the public at risk.

Actioned 31 March 2026

Noise disturbance.

Issued 03 February 2026

We understand the impact that ongoing noise issues can have on people’s quality of life, and concerns raised in Hawkinge and the surrounding areas are taken seriously.

Most noise complaints are the responsibility of Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s Environmental Health team, who are best placed to investigate and take action. Residents experiencing persistent noise issues are encouraged to report them directly to the council so concerns can be formally logged and assessed.

Where noise issues are linked to antisocial behaviour, or if a situation escalates, police involvement may be appropriate and officers will respond as needed.

Officers will continue to work closely with partner agencies to help address community concerns. The local officer will also continue to monitor the situation and provide support where appropriate.
