New Romney

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Road safety.

Issued 03 February 2026

Messages have been shared through My Community Voice, the police two-way messaging service, about speeding, e‑scooters and general road safety. These messages have also been shared in local Facebook groups to help reach more residents.

Officers patrol the area regularly and remain alert to vehicles and drivers who should not be on the road. A speed‑detection device is also used to carry out spot speed checks, which can be deployed at any time depending on operational demand.

Antisocial behaviour.

Issued 03 February 2026

Officers regularly patrol New Romney town, and this visible police presence helps reduce antisocial behaviour.

When young people are identified as being involved in antisocial behaviour, officers carry out home visits and speak with them and their parents or guardians. This approach has been effective in stopping or reducing poor behaviour in the community and will continue where appropriate.

Actioned 31 March 2026

Nuisance motorcycles and/or e-scooters.

Issued 03 February 2026

Reports of nuisance off‑road motorcycles are most common at the bottom of Church Lane. Following a recent report from a member of the public, a local officer attended the area and spoke with those involved. Details were taken, and an intelligence report was submitted so the activity can be monitored if it happens again.

Officers have also stopped e‑scooters being used in the area. In some cases, e‑scooters have been seized. In others, officers have taken the rider home and spoken with parents or guardians to explain the law and offer advice.

If the same individual or e‑scooter is seen being used illegally again, the e‑scooter may be seized and the rider could face prosecution.
