Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Vehicle crime.

Issued 03 February 2026

Vehicle crime was identified as a priority in Deal after reports showed it was increasing. Officers took action to investigate these offences and identify the person responsible. As a result of this work, the offender was arrested, charged and received a custodial sentence in court. This action has helped reduce vehicle crime and address concerns raised by residents.

We shared the outcome with the local community through the Kent Police website, My Community Voice and local Facebook pages. Alongside this, we provided advice on how people can better protect their vehicles and reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

If you have information about vehicle crime in your area, please contact your local officer, PC 14596 Waymark.

Drug dealing.

Issued 03 February 2026

We are continuing to take action to address drug‑related issues raised by residents in Deal.

Officers are gathering information about drug use and drug supply in the area. This information is shared with local officers and our intelligence teams to help target the right people and places.

In response to concerns, we have increased patrols in Deal. These include both uniformed and plain‑clothes officers. Where officers have legal grounds, they have carried out stop and searches, which have led to drugs being found and seized.

We are also taking action to disrupt drug supply. In recent months, officers have found and dismantled two fully functioning cannabis factories in Deal. Arrests were made as part of this work.

Drug‑related harm is a long‑term issue, but we will continue to take enforcement action wherever possible to protect our community.

If you have information about drug dealing or drug use in your area, please contact your local officer, PC 14596 Waymark.

Road safety issues.

Issued 03 February 2026

We have carried out regular patrols across Deal, both on foot and in police vehicles, to respond to concerns raised by residents about road safety.

Officers have also set up checkpoints at key routes into and out of the town. This allows us to deal with unsafe driving, check speeds and stop traffic offences. Having uniformed officers and marked police vehicles in highly visible locations has helped encourage drivers to slow down, making the roads safer for everyone.

During this work, several drivers have been given advice or warnings about their driving and seatbelt use. This helps remind people of the importance of keeping themselves and others safe.

We have also taken action against illegal e‑scooter use. A number of e‑scooters have been seized because they were being used without insurance or involved in traffic offences. Some riders have also been spoken to and given advice so they better understand the law. As a result, we are seeing fewer illegally used e‑scooters, particularly in the town centre and on main roads. Further action days are planned to continue this work.

In addition, officers have carried out road safety checkpoints where vehicles are stopped and document checks are completed. This helps ensure drivers are properly licensed and insured.

If you have information about unsafe driving, illegal e‑scooter use, please contact your local officer, PC 14596 Waymark.
