Road safety.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Shoker has increased patrols in the area to improve road safety and tackle poor driving. As part of this work, he has issued Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) and spoken directly with drivers about safe and responsible driving. A TOR is a formal record created by police when someone is suspected of committing a road traffic offence. Depending on the circumstances, this can result in a fixed penalty notice, a driver education course or a court appearance. Over the past 3 months, several vehicles have been seized because of concerns about driver behaviour and other road traffic offences. PC Shoker is also exploring opportunities to introduce future Speedwatch campaigns. Speedwatch is a community scheme that allows trained volunteers to work alongside the police to monitor vehicle speeds and help raise awareness of speeding in their local area. The aim is to encourage safer driving and support efforts to keep local communities safe.
