  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

Priority Action taken

Fly tipping.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Swan has worked closely with Dartford Borough Council to identify areas that may be vulnerable to waste crime, such as illegal dumping of rubbish, and to look at ways to better protect these locations. He has also completed additional training that allows him to issue fixed penalty notices (fines) to people who break the rules of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). A PSPO is a legal order used by councils to tackle behaviour that has a negative impact on the community, such as littering, street drinking or other antisocial behaviour. In addition, PC Swan has supported Trading Standards and the Environment Agency in carrying out roadside checks to identify people who may be transporting waste illegally. These checks have led to vehicles linked to offences being identified, with enforcement action taken and prosecutions pursued where appropriate.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Swan has organised targeted days of action to address issues involving riders on nuisance motorcycles who are causing concern in the community and the vehicles linked to them. As a result of this work, some riders have already been issued with Traffic Offence Reports for alleged road traffic offences and are due to appear in court. He continues to work closely with partner agencies to increase CCTV coverage in the areas most affected, helping to gather evidence and hold those responsible to account. Officers are also issuing fines to people who breach the conditions of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). A PSPO is a legal order used by councils to tackle behaviour that has a negative impact on local communities, including some forms of antisocial behaviour.

Road safety.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Swan has increased patrols in the area to tackle poor driving and improve road safety. As part of this work, he has issued Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) to drivers suspected of committing road traffic offences. A TOR is a formal way for police to deal with offences such as speeding, using a mobile phone while driving or driving a vehicle that is not roadworthy. Depending on the circumstances, this can lead to a fixed penalty, a driving awareness course or a court appearance. PC Swan has also spoken directly with motorists to promote safe and legal driving. Over the past 3 months, several vehicles have been seized because of concerns about driver behaviour and other traffic-related offences. He is also exploring opportunities to introduce future Community Speedwatch campaigns. Community Speedwatch is a scheme that allows trained volunteers to work with the police to monitor vehicle speeds in their local area. The aim is to raise awareness of speeding and encourage safer driving within the community.
