Local Priority Issues
| Priority | Action taken |
|---|---|

Unlawful obstruction. Issued 16 April 2026 |
While on patrol, PC Cooper has taken action to address vehicles that are parked in a way that causes a dangerous obstruction to other road users or pedestrians. Where appropriate, he has contacted the registered keeper and asked for the vehicle to be moved. He has also provided advice and education to drivers about the risks and potential offences associated with careless, inconsiderate or dangerous parking. Vehicles that obstruct roads, junctions or pavements can create safety hazards for motorists, cyclists, wheelchair users and pedestrians. Recognising the close link between road safety and highway obstructions, PC Cooper has focused on educating drivers and encouraging safer parking practices in the first instance, helping to prevent future problems and improve safety for everyone using the area's roads and footpaths. Shoplifting. Issued 16 April 2026 |
PC Cooper has supported a number of police operations across the division aimed at identifying and tackling people involved in shoplifting and other crimes targeting local businesses. Reducing shoplifting remains a priority, and neighbourhood officers continue to look for offenders and work with retailers to prevent crime and bring those responsible to justice. As part of this approach, PC Cooper works closely with businesses to share information, identify repeat offenders and support crime prevention measures. Retailers are also working with police forces across the country as part of wider efforts to reduce shoplifting and improve safety for staff, customers and local communities. Actioned 30 June 2026 |
|
Drug use. Issued 16 April 2026 |
PC Cooper has increased patrols in the area, using both uniformed officers and plain clothes officers to help tackle the issues being reported. Officers have carried out a number of stop checks, where people or vehicles are stopped so officers can make enquiries and address concerns about suspected criminal activity. The Neighbourhood Task Force has also supported PC Cooper with targeted operations and has executed several search warrants in the area. A search warrant is a legal document authorised by a court that allows police to search a property for evidence linked to suspected offences. Work is continuing to identify individuals and vehicles believed to be connected to this activity so that appropriate action can be taken to prevent further offending and help keep the community safe. Actioned 30 June 2026 |
