Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Road safety issues.

Issued 03 February 2026

The Heron Ward Beat Team has carried out targeted speed checks with Community Speedwatch to address concerns about speeding. This work has helped identify drivers who exceeded the speed limit and put others at risk.

Officers have also completed proactive traffic stops, resulting in vehicle seizures and Traffic Offence Reports for offences such as driving without a licence or insurance.

We remain committed to improving road safety in the ward and will continue working with partners and the community to tackle dangerous driving and keep local roads safe.

Actioned 25 March 2026

Drink driving.

Issued 03 February 2026

Officers used automatic number plate recognition to stop a vehicle being driven by someone who appeared to be intoxicated. Checks confirmed the vehicle had been reported as stolen and was not insured. The driver was arrested at the scene and the vehicle was seized. Officers were also concerned for the safety of the driver’s children, who were in the vehicle at the time. This quick action removed an unsafe driver from the road and helped protect both the public and those involved.

Actioned 25 March 2026

Highways obstructions.

Issued 03 February 2026

During regular patrols, officers identified a safety concern involving a person attempting to move a caravan through the Heron Ward without a vehicle. This created a risk to the public and could have caused an obstruction.

The Coastal Beat Team attended promptly and safely resolved the situation. The individual has since left the area and no further issues have been reported.
