Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 03 February 2026

PCSOs Meek and Hazell have carried out both high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols in the area around Old Park following reports of off‑road motorbike activity. During this work, officers obtained details of vehicles seen delivering motorbikes to the area. Motorbike users were also observed near addresses and followed, where appropriate, back to known locations. Relevant information has been shared with ward officers to support further action.

Reports from the public have been attended and updates provided. Images have also been received from the community, but at this stage riders have not been identified.

PC Carver and PC Allen have attended a joint meeting with Canterbury City Council to discuss ongoing issues with off‑road motorbikes. The council is now considering issuing warnings to residents of council‑owned properties where off‑road bike use is having a negative impact on the local community.

Police activity will continue, including targeted operations and roads policing enforcement, to help deter this behaviour and reduce further disruption.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

Issued 03 February 2026

PCSOs Meek and Hazell continue to carry out regular patrols across the ward. This includes dedicated days of action focused on areas such as the Barracks, Old Park and the Spring Lane Estate.

PC Allen has also been carrying out home visits to people suspected of being involved in antisocial behaviour in the Barton ward. These visits are used to give warnings where appropriate, build rapport, understand the reasons behind the behaviour, and help divert individuals away from further issues.

This work is ongoing, with PC Allen continuing to address the issue with support from other beat officers.

Actioned 30 March 2026

Dog fouling.

Issued 03 February 2026

There have been no reports of dog fouling witnessed by, or reported to, officers. Where any offenders or addresses are identified, concerns would be passed to Canterbury City Council, which is responsible for dealing with dog fouling.

PC Allen has also spoken with Barton councillors about this priority. They confirmed that they have not received reports suggesting dog fouling is currently an issue in the area.
