Tenterden St Michael’s

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Road safety issues.

Issued 15 October 2025

We recently joined forces with several teams to tackle rural crime across different areas.

Officers from Ashford Community Safety Unit, Folkestone Community Safety Unit, the Special Constabulary, the Rural Task Force and Sussex Police worked together on a week of action. We focused on key travel routes and places that have been targeted in the past.

During this operation we carried out a large number of checks, including:

10 vehicle searches
16 person searches
6 vehicles seized for different offences

Two people were arrested on suspicion of supplying cocaine, and another person was arrested for having an offensive weapon.

Catapults.

Issued 15 October 2025

We are working with local schools to talk to young people about the dangers and misuse of catapults. This work is being led by our Child Centred Policing Teams.

We are also working with key partners, including wildlife agencies, Neighbourhood Watch and local parish councils, to explore whether a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) could be introduced in rural communities to control the possession of catapults. A PSPO is a set of rules that helps deal with antisocial behaviour in public places. We are also discussing the use of amnesty bins so unwanted catapults can be safely handed in.

Alongside this, we are working with the Rural Task Force to put up signs in wildlife areas to educate and deter young people from using catapults in a harmful way. Officers are carrying out high‑visibility patrols in areas that are repeatedly used by people with catapults.

Fly-tipping.

Issued 15 October 2025

We have held special days of action to target people who dump rubbish illegally. By sharing information, we have been able to stop illegal waste carriers and report them for offences.

We have also visited problem areas with Kent County Council to support their work at illegal waste sites and gather more intelligence.

More days of action are planned as we move into 2026.
