I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - general, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good morning everyone,
I wanted to provide an update regarding the ongoing anti-social behaviour issues in and around Beechings Way Recreational Ground. I hear your concerns and see first-hand the impact this has within the local community.
Having been the local officer for Twydall for the last few weeks, I just wanted to reassure you on the work that is being done regarding the ongoing ASB issues. So far I have:
Conducted regular high-visibility patrols in and around the area. Spoken with residents and gathered information regarding incidents and those believed to be involved. Submitted intelligence reports relating to individuals and vehicles connected to reports of anti-social behaviour. Conducted engagement with young people found congregating in the area. Worked with partner agencies and local policing teams to identify opportunities for long-term problem solving. Reviewed reports submitted by members of the public and ensured relevant information has been directed to the appropriate departments. Established links with local schools and their Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) to assist in the identification of individuals involved and to support early intervention where appropriate.
In the coming weeks, I will also be attending a Kent Community Safety Forum (KCSF) for Gillingham, where community concerns and ongoing ASB issues affecting our local area will form part of wider discussions. This meeting will also discuss how money can be spent within the local area to improve safety and security for all.
In response to concerns raised by residents regarding issues with E-Bikes, I have also requested the deployment of Rapid Deployment Cameras within the area of Beechings Way Recreational Ground. This request is currently being considered by Medway Council, and I will provide an update when a decision has been made.
Moving forward, I will continue to:
Carry out targeted patrols at relevant times and locations. Identify and deal with those involved in anti-social behaviour where evidence allows. Gather evidence to support enforcement action where appropriate. Continue working with local schools, Medway Council and partner agencies to address the root causes of the issues being reported. Monitor reports and intelligence to build a clearer picture of offenders and hotspots. Hold further community engagement surgeries, with dates and locations to be confirmed in due course.
Please continue to report incidents. Every report received helps build the intelligence picture and provides evidence of the impact this behaviour is having on the community. Even if you think an issue has already been reported, additional information helps identify patterns, times, locations and those responsible.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.kent.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
