Partnership Working in Margate

Today, officers from Neighbourhood Task Force (NTF) worked alongside Thanet District Council to address ongoing concerns relating to street drinking beneath the shelter in Margate.

Throughout the engagement, both Kent Police and Thanet District Council worked closely with individuals at the location, not only to address the anti-social behaviour concerns, but also to provide support, advice and guidance. Partner agencies engaged with those present to discuss the assistance available to them, including support with accommodation and housing services, with the aim of helping them access more suitable accommodation and reducing the likelihood of them returning to the shelter.

Following engagement with those involved, individuals were dispersed from the area, and the shelter was subsequently cleaned and cleared, helping to improve the environment for residents, visitors and local businesses.

This activity highlights the importance of partnership working, balancing enforcement with support, and demonstrates the continued commitment of Kent Police and Thanet District Council to tackling anti-social behaviour while safeguarding vulnerable members of our community.
