We had a busy one yesterday in Ashford and just to keep you all posted as to the kind of work we do daily that often goes unseen, this is how it went! We visited a victim of crime in Smarden who had a large amount of heating oil stolen in recent weeks, took crime details, discussed crime prevention methods and followed up on enquiries regarding possible offenders. Completed a home visit with a young person and their parent in High Halden regarding their involvement in catapult crime in the area. Words of advice have been offered regarding offending, public perception and repercussions. A proactive vehicle stop in Brabourne of a vehicle linked to drug supply resulted in 4 males being stop searched and the vehicle seized for no insurance. The driver was reported for driving with no insurance. We assisted Ashford Borough Council with a joint visit in Hothfield following welfare and housing concerns. We attended a neighbouring property in Little Chart, to complete CCTV enquires following a recent report of burglary. And to round the day off, responded to a report of catapulting in Ashford Town Centre where a young male was arrested following a short foot chase, for an array of offences including threats with a catapult.Much like most shifts, its spent working with partner agencies, supporting local investigations and focusing on our priorities within the community.
