Folkestone Sports Centre Redevelopment

It is disappointing to report that Folkestone Sports Centre redevelopment continues to be affected by incidents of criminal damage, alongside ongoing reports of trespassing and urban exploring at the site. It was hoped that the enhanced security measures, regular police patrols, and the presence of contractors working on site would provide a sufficient deterrent against further trespassing. Unfortunately, this has not been the case, and just last week officers dealt with teenage youths who were found trespassing within the building. We have also been dealing with reports of youths accessing the SkyWalk high rope obstacle course. 

Despite these challenges, it has been encouraging to witness the significant progress being made to the Folkestone Sports Centre. The Sports Trust and its partner organisations have been working hard to redevelop the site and return these valuable sporting facilities to the community. The Sports Centre’s reopening will provide a positive space for residents, particularly young people, to participate in sport, physical activity, and community events.

We will continue to work closely with the Sports Trust and partner agencies to monitor the site and take appropriate action where necessary.

If you witness any suspicious activity at the site, please call 999 immediately if a crime is in progress, or report information to Kent Police using our online reporting system.

Together, we can help ensure this important community facility is protected and returned to public use as soon as possible.
