Two Arrested Following Attempted Burglary at Construction Site

Kent Police officers arrested two men in the early hours of 7 September 2026 following reports of suspicious activity at a construction site in the Wye area.
 

A 57-year-old man from Ashford and an 18-year-old man from Charing were detained after officers responded to reports of individuals entering a construction site and attempting to steal items.
 

As part of the investigation, and a vehicle seized for no insurance. Both men remain in police custody on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling and possession of an offensive weapon while enquiries continue.

the 57-year-old man is also wanted for questioning in relation to a shoplifting in the Maidstone area and will be dealt with whilst in custody.
 

Construction sites can often be targeted due to the valuable tools, machinery and materials kept on site. We encourage site owners and local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly outside normal working hours.
