Westgate on Sea- Weekly update |
||
|
Dear residents of Westgate on Sea,
Yesterday I hosted the monthly Ward Surgery at Westgate Town Council. Firstly, I wanted to thank all those that attended, and filled the entire hour with productive conversations about anti-social behaviour and crime concerns.
On the topic of public engagement, I also wanted to remind residents of the upcoming Community Speed Watch briefing event which is booked for Tuesday 8th September 2026 at 11:00 hours (please see attached poster for details).
A recurrent complaint around anti-social behaviour is high powered e-bikes and off road motorcycles around Lymington Road Recreational Park. I have seen photographs of the damage to the grass and appreciate the safety concerns of those visiting the park with children when vehicles are travelling around at high speed with little regard for others. I have been liaising with Westgate Town Council for several months now about the installation of CCTV covering the recreational ground as a deterrence and also as an evidential line of enquiry for Kent Police when we do get complaints about this behaviour. I will be patrolling the area over the coming weeks, and will explore an operation utilising plain clothes officers to increase our likelihood of apprehending the persons responsible. This is very much on our radar and we will be investing time and resources to address it.
With kindest regards PC Steven England | ||
