Cannabis, Catapults and some poor decision making.

About 30 minutes before the end of yesterdays shift, on our way back to close up for the day, Beat Officers happened across a vehicle which was driving erratically on Hythe Road, Ashford. It showed on Police systems as having been seen in suspicious circumstances around rural properties only a day earlier on the outskirts of Ashford.

The vehicle began false indicating, abruptly breaking and then ran itself into a dead-end before the driver then bailed and attempted to run off (but didn't get very far)!

The driver was found to be 17 years old, a provisional licence holder only and driving without any supervision, so was reported for the offence of driving without a licence and the car recovered by us.

One of the rear seat passengers, also 17 years old, was found to be in possession of a rucksack which had a quantity of Cannabis Bud, Cannabis Resin and Cannabis vapes within. This individual will remain under investigation for Cannabis Possession related offences while a suitable outcome is determined.

The car itself also had two catapults found within, both which were seized.

All in all, it turned out to be a fruitful stop and managed to tie in a bit of everything; drugs, catapults and nuisance vehicles.
