Catapult Located!

Beat Officers noticed some suspicious behaviour from two young persons on The Street, Hothfield yesterday afternoon whilst in the area, with them both running immediately upon sighting the marked Police vehicle.
 

One of the males was stopped on Park Drive and detained for a search under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
 

It was initially suspected they have been involved in a theft from the local Post Officer, however during the search it became apparent the young person had ran for other reasons.
 

Located in a small manbag, was a catapult and a number of rounded stone. Whilst he was not involved in any catapult related crime on this occasion, he was returned to his home address and given suitable warning in the presence of his parents.
 

Having not previously been known to Police, he now is and we can look to conduct follow-up visits and engagement with the individual involved to further deter and disrupt this from progressing into further incidents where criminal offences are involved.
 

It was right place, right time for us yesterday, but please continue to report any sighting of catapult misuse.
