Rogue Trader Warning - Kemsing |
🚨🚔 Rogue Trader Warning - Kemsing 🚔🚓🚨 Local officers were made aware today of suspected rogue traders operating in the Kemsing area. They had approached an elderly resident, offering exterior renovation work before significantly overcharging for the services provided. 🚔 Fortunately, officers attended the address promptly and arrested both suspects. 🚔
We would like to remind residents to remain vigilant and follow the advice below: ✅ Doorstep fraudsters often offer services that are either unnecessary or carried out to a poor standard. If payment is made in advance, they may leave without completing any work. ✅ Common services offered include driveway cleaning, gardening, roof repairs and guttering work. ✅ Never allow yourself to be pressured into agreeing to work being carried out. If you ask someone to leave and they refuse, call police on 999. ✅ Never accompany a trader to a bank or cash machine to withdraw money. Legitimate traders would never ask you to do this. ✅ Consider using reputable tradespeople who are members of the Kent County Council Trading Standards Approved Trader Scheme. ✅ Always obtain quotes in writing and verify that the person is genuinely from the company they claim to represent. 👮♂️🚔 Please check in on elderly or vulnerable friends, family members and neighbours, as they are often targeted by rogue traders. 📞 If a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergency reports involving suspected rogue traders, contact Kent Police on 101 or the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133. 🚔🚨 Please share this advice with friends, family and neighbours, particularly those who may be vulnerable to rogue traders and doorstep fraudsters. 🚨🚔 | ||
