Summer Home Safety Advice

As many people head off on summer holidays or enjoy more time outdoors, it's important to make sure your home remains secure.

Before leaving your property, remember to:

• Lock all doors and windows, even if you're only out for a short time.
• Keep valuables out of sight and store keys away from doors and windows.
• Use timer switches on lights to make your home appear occupied.
• Ask a trusted neighbour, friend or family member to keep an eye on your property and remove any post from your doorstep.
• Ensure sheds, garages and outbuildings are locked and secure.

If you're enjoying your garden this summer, don't leave bicycles, tools or other valuable items unattended, as they can attract opportunistic thieves.

By taking a few simple precautions, you can help protect your home and enjoy a safe and relaxing summer.
