I wanted to provide you with an update regarding E-Scooters/nuisance motorcycles, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We are continuing to tackle the illegal use of nuisance bikes, Surrons, off-road motorcycles and e-scooters across Gravesend, and we are asking for your help. 👮♂️🏍️
Recent changes to police powers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act mean that officers can now take more robust action against those causing anti-social behaviour. In certain circumstances, officers are able to enter private land, including gardens, to seize vehicles being used in an anti-social manner.
✅ This means that nuisance bikes are no longer safe simply because they have been hidden away in a garden, shed or private property.
Kent Police has already seen significant success using intelligence from the public. Recently, officers conducted enforcement activity in Gravesend, resulting in the seizure of:
🔹 4 illegal Surrons / e-bikes
🔹 4 e-scooters
🔹 1 stolen motorcycle
In addition, information and CCTV provided by residents helped officers identify a suspect linked to the stolen motorcycle. 🎥
We know these vehicles can cause misery within our communities through:
🚨 Dangerous riding on roads, pavements and footpaths
🚨 Anti-social behaviour in parks and open spaces
🚨 Excessive noise and nuisance
🚨 Risks to pedestrians and other road users
🚨 Criminal damage and intimidation

🏠 Addresses where nuisance bikes, Surrons or e-scooters are being stored
🔧 Locations where vehicles are being modified or repaired
👤 The identities of riders responsible for anti-social behaviour
📹 CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage
📍 Regular locations, times and routes used by nuisance riders
Every piece of information helps us build the intelligence picture and take positive action.

February 2025 saw the publication of the Ministry of Justice Crime and Policing Bill: Antisocial behaviour (ASB) factsheet. This outlined a number of new measures including making powers to seize vehicles under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 easier to use, allowing the police to react robustly and immediately to the anti-social use of motor vehicles.
