General Update

PC Cartwright and PC Latter have been out and about across the local area, engaging with residents and supporting a range of community events and concerns.

Recently, the officers were pleased to be involved in the visit of His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester in Goudhurst, helping to ensure the event ran smoothly and providing reassurance to those attending. It was a fantastic opportunity to support a significant occasion for the local community and celebrate the area's strong community spirit.

The team has also been responding to reports of nuisance e-scooter use in a number of villages. Patrols have been conducted in areas where concerns have been raised, with officers providing education around road safety and the legal requirements surrounding e-scooters. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting issues so that patrols can be directed to the areas most affected.

Another issue regularly raised by residents is speeding vehicles through our villages and rural roads. PC Cartwright and PC Latter have been speaking with local people about their concerns and carrying out high-visibility patrols in affected areas. Speeding not only increases the risk of collisions but can also significantly impact residents' quality of life. The officers continue to work with partners and local communities to identify problem locations and encourage all motorists to drive safely and within the speed limit.

Community engagement remains a key priority, and both officers have attended a number of community lunches in recent weeks. These events provide a valuable opportunity to meet residents, discuss local issues, share crime prevention advice and hear first-hand about the matters affecting local communities.

PC Cartwright and PC Latter also enjoyed a visit to Horsmonden Nursery, where they met staff and children, spoke about the role of the police, children tried on the police equipment and we answered lots of enthusiastic questions. The visit was a great opportunity to build positive relationships with young people and help them learn more about community policing.
