Policing update |
Morning Resident,
The last few weeks have been extremely busy for Thanet police officers. You may have seen recent reports regarding issues on Thanet's beaches, where large numbers of young people have been visiting the area and, unfortunately, causing disturbances. As a result, I have been abstracted from my usual beat duties to assist with policing the beaches, as well as several music events held at Dreamland. Despite this, I have still managed to spend time out on the beat and deal with a variety of issues across the area. Recently, I attended Foreness Point following reports of an unauthorised music event. Officers intervened while the event was still being set up, and we were able to use dispersal powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act to disperse those involved, preventing the event from taking place. Whilst on patrol, I also attended a road traffic collision where the offending vehicle failed to stop at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing, and I am hopeful that a suspect will be identified. An e-scooter was also seized after it was observed being ridden in an anti-social manner. The seizure forms part of our ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve safety within the local community. In addition, I have continued carrying out speed enforcement checks at various locations across the area. These checks are aimed at improving road safety and encouraging motorists to reconsider their driving habits, particularly in our residential communities where speeding remains a concern. I look forward to continuing to patrol and serve our local community. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns, issues, or questions.
