Tackling your concerns - nuisance bikes |
||
|
Hello Resident,
Local beat officers have acted on community concerns regarding nuisance bikes in the Newtown area. Officers received information about a moped regularly riding on footpaths and carried out targeted patrols in response. The rider attempted to flee when stopped but was quickly detained.
Checks revealed multiple offences, including having the wrong licence for the vehicle, no insurance, and driving while over the drug‑drive limit after smoking cannabis. The individual was arrested and charged with drug‑driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and careless/inconsiderate driving.
He has since appeared in court and received a 14‑month driving ban along with a financial penalty.
This result reflects Kent Police’s continued focus on the top community‑voted priorities: nuisance bikes, anti‑social behaviour (ASB), and e‑scooters. We will continue to conducted targetted enforcement and will be robust in our approach.
If you have any concerns or issues you want to raise, please call 101 (non emergency line) or make a report via the Kent police website.
Many thanks
