No Insurance |

|
While on patrol on 18th January 2026, I stopped a vehicle that had been repeatedly seen driving around the Tenterden area over the past few weeks. Checks showed the vehicle had no valid insurance and had not held an active policy for several months. On speaking with the driver, he initially claimed the vehicle belonged to his employer and stated he believed his employer should have arranged the insurance. After further questioning, the driver admitted that he had no insurance, had not held a policy for at least three months, and was continuing to drive the vehicle regularly despite knowing he was uninsured. The driver was issued a Traffic offence report for driving a motor vehicle without third‑party insurance. He already has existing points on his licence, and the additional penalty points and fine will now be added. His previous points, combined with this offence, demonstrate a continued disregard for road traffic legislation. The vehicle was seized under S165A and removed from the roadside. The driver will be required to obtain valid insurance and pay the recovery costs before the vehicle can be released to him. If he fails to insure and collect the vehicle within 14 days, it will be disposed of (crushed).
