🚨 Operation SCEPTRE – Tackling Knife Crime in Ashford 🚨 |
Dear Resident
This past week, officers from Ashford’s Community Safety Unit have been working hard as part of Operation SCEPTRE, a national initiative focused on reducing knife crime and removing dangerous weapons from our streets. Here’s what we’ve been up to: ✅ 18 November – Officers began with weapon sweeps in the Brookfield area. No weapons were found, but further sweeps in Godfrey Walk led to two stop searches based on intelligence around drug dealing. This resulted in: Two males were arrested, charged, and remanded to prison. ✅ 21 November – Victoria Park patrols – Plain clothes officers observed a suspected drug deal. Two stop searches led to arrests for cannabis supply and recovery of larger quantities of drugs from nearby addresses. Both suspects were handed over to CID. ✅ 23 November – While on mobile patrol in Jemmet Road, officers spotted a male on an e-scooter who tried to evade them. Thanks to quick-footed officers, he was detained. During arrest, he attempted to dispose of a knife, which was recovered. He was arrested for drug, weapons, and driving offences and remains in custody. Results from the week: Operation SCEPTRE may be a week of action, but our commitment to tackling knife crime and drug-related offences continues every day. Together, we’re making Ashford safer.
