Police SpeedWatch - Walderslade Woods |
||
|
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road safety issues (Speeding), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Kent Police operate and manage Community Speedwatch, a scheme that can be active in your local area. What is Speedwatch? How does it work? Details of speeding vehicles are securely stored in Kent Police’s Speedwatch database for 12 months. If a vehicle is repeatedly recorded speeding or exceeds the limit by more than 50%, a letter of advice may be sent to the registered keeper. In some cases, officers personally deliver these letters to engage directly with frequent offenders. Speedwatch is an educational initiative. Is Speedwatch effective? Yes, over 90% of speeding vehicles are not detected a second time by any Speedwatch scheme’s in Kent and surrounding counties in the next 12 months, and the percentage of speeding reduces in the local community over a period of time. Can you spare an hour a week to help your community? This afternoon your Beat Officers PC Denney and PC Cox conducted targeted speed enforcement on Walderslade Woods following reports of vehicles frequently travelling in excess of the posted 50mph speed limit. All drivers dealt with appropriately. Please continue to report any problem areas. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.kent.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
