Update on Police Actions to Combat Shoplifting |
||
Dear Resident
This is an update about the actions that we have been taking recently to combat Shoplifting in Canterbury City Centre. We are working hard to make our retail areas secure through a clear, three-part strategy: 1. High Visibility & Patrols We are conducting high-visibility foot patrols in key shopping areas. Our focus is on being present where and when we are needed most to act as a strong immediate deterrent. 2. Targeting Repeat Offenders We are actively targeting the small group of prolific offenders responsible for the majority of retail theft. This work aims to secure charges and obtain court orders, ensuring a long-term reduction in crime. 3. Key Partnerships (Whitefriars & BID) Our success relies on strong local partnerships. We are working closely with Whitefriars Security and Canterbury BID's District Watch to share intelligence instantly and coordinate our response on the ground. How You Can Help: Please continue to report every incident of shoplifting—no matter how small. Your reports are the vital intelligence we need. Emergency (Crime in progress): Call 999 Non-Emergency/Information: Call 101 or report online. Thank you for helping us keep Canterbury safe. | ||
