Rise in theft of motorbikes

Good afternoon,

There has been a recent report of a stolen motorbike in your area. Police are taking relevant steps to investigate this however, prevention is also key for us. Whilst it isn't fair that we have to go the extra mile to protect our property, preventative advice is always helpful. Anyone who owns a motorbike should take all reasonable steps in protecting their property, this includes using suitable chains/locks, keeping vehicles in secure garages where possible, installing a form of CCTV to deter offenders or keeping vehicles in gardens.

Canterbury Police are currently running an operation to tackle theft of motorbikes and are giving away free tracking tags to all persons who live in Canterbury and own a motorbike. The initiative is called Op Ratio, the tracking tag is placed by you on your motorbike in a hidden location and the tracking data can only be viewed by you. If you own a motorbike and would like to be considered for this initiative, please reply to this message with your home address and I will arrange for a local beat officer to attend and discuss this further with you. Please see the attached cover letter regarding this operation.

Kind regards,

Canterbury Community Safety Unit
