Year Internet Safety Talk at Broadwater Down Primary School

A big thank you to Year 6 at Broadwater Down Primary School for having us in to talk about ‘Internet Safety’. We had some fantastic discussions about how to stay safe online, protect personal information and be kind online. The students asked some brilliant questions and shared thoughtful insights - such a switched-on group.

It was great to hear such positive feedback from both the students and teacher (see below!). We're always proud to support young people in building confident, safe online habits!

Hi Amelia,

I wanted send our sincere gratitude for your fantastic online safety session with our Year 6 class. Your visit was incredibly valuable and perfectly timed as our children prepare for their transition to secondary school.

The session was exceptionally well-received, with all children beautifully engaged and eager to share their thoughts throughout. Your teaching approach was informative and accessible, covering all the essential topics for our children.

The children gained valuable insights about:

  • Understanding online risks and knowing who to talk to when things don't go to plan
  • Learning the age requirements for platforms like TikTok and Roblox (13 years old)
  • The critical importance of never meeting up with people they've met online
  • Understanding cyberbullying and its serious effects on individuals
  • Your explanation of cyberbullying particularly resonated with the class - they had plenty to contribute and clearly understood the impact it can have on people. When you moved on to discuss the legal consequences, it was impressive how well they remembered the age of criminal responsibility from your previous session and could anticipate what the consequences might be.

The children were, as always, full of questions - I think they barely gave you a chance to get a word in edgeways! Their favourite question seemed to be "What if...?" followed by increasingly creative scenarios. It's great to see them thinking critically about these important safety issues.

Your positive and upbeat delivery made what could be a serious topic both engaging and memorable. The timing couldn't be better!

We're very much looking forward to your upcoming session about transition to secondary school in the coming weeks. Thank you once again for your excellent work with our children and for making online safety education so engaging and accessible.

Thank you again, Year 6 Teacher
