Bloodstains recovered from bed sheets and a wardrobe have helped to convict a prolific burglar responsible for a series of break-ins across Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. Freddie Webb targeted properties of victims while they were on holiday, ransacking their homes to steal jewellery, watches and cash. Link to image of suspect: Bloodstains left at crime scenes lead to capture of prolific burglar | Kent Police Webb carried out four burglaries between 17 January and 5 April 2025, when he would gain entry by breaking the windows of patios doors. A CID investigation matched his DNA to several crime scenes, including addresses in Frant Road and Broadwater Down in Tunbridge Wells, and from a victim’s home near Sevenoaks High Street.
Tracked downOn 10 April, officers tracked Webb down to a hotel in Hitchen Hatch Lane, Sevenoaks. Clothing was seized from his room which matched CCTV images of a hat and jacket worn by the offender in some of the burglaries. When Webb’s phone was reviewed it also showed he had made internet searches checking for possible news coverage around his name and any recent Sevenoaks burglaries. Webb, 49, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary. He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and on Friday 23 May was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison. Leading the investigation was DC Chloe Chapman, who said: ‘Webb is a career criminal and prolific thief; the likes of whom think they can get away with making other people’s lives a misery. Thankfully, the evidence in this case was irrefutable, leading him no choice but to plead guilty. ‘Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime, which has a long term and often devastating effect on victims.'Those targeted sometimes lose items of great sentimental value which can never be replaced, and it is for these reasons we will continue to relentlessly pursue offenders and bring them before the courts.’ | ||||
