Three charged after phone shops targeted in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge

Good morning Resident,

Three people have been charged after phone shops in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge were allegedly targeted by thieves.

Sevenoaks

Kent Police was called just after 5.10pm on Friday 14 March 2025 to a report of attempted burglary from Vodafone in Sevenoaks High Street.

It is alleged two men entered the shop and made attempts to enter the staff-only area at the back of the store but failed to gain access. The suspects left prior to officers’ arrival.

Tonbridge

At 9.10am the following day, emergency call handlers received a report that three men had entered Vodafone in Tonbridge High Street and stolen 60 phones and two tablet devices.

It was alleged that two of the men matched the descriptions of the suspects in the incident the day before.

Officers attended the scene within minutes and arrested four people.

Charged

Sam Jarra, 24, of Scarsbrook Road in Blackheath, London, and Tyrone Curland, 20, of no fixed address, have since been charged with robbery. The latter was further charged with attempted burglary.

Mr Jarra pleaded guilty at Thanet Magistrates’ Court on 17 March and has been remanded in custody.

Both men are due to attend a further hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 14 April.

A teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with robbery and attempted burglary. The 14 year old is due to appear before Medway Youth Court on 10 April.

A fourth man has since been released without charge.

Many thanks,
