Nuisance vehicles update - Chatham

Good evening Resident,

The issue of off road, electric bikes and quad bikes around Chatham gets raised regularly and we have been responding wherever possible (of course in line with emergencies and other calls). We've also been following up with CCTV enquiries.

This afternoon, thanks to the assistance of a top tier Kent Police dog handler, the rider of the above Suron was pursued, prior to being arrested and is now enjoying the boredom of the inside of a custody cell. The rider is being investigated for failing to stop for Police, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He will also be receiving a fine for breaching the Public Space Protection Order and has received a s59 warning so that any further ASB use of vehicles in the next 12 months can lead to further seizures.

Oh, and his bike has been seized so that's one less causing issues in the area.

CCTV enquiries I've been conducting in the last couple of weeks around Lordswood have led to the identities of further riders being uncovered (persistence is key) and so they too will be receiving visits and will be dealt with accordingly.

Please do continue to report issues such as these and if you have any information on the riders and addresses involved, please do let us know!

(FYI the recovery van does have a licence plate but through the wonders of technology I've removed it from the picture)

Kind regards

Rob
