Hello all.

Unfortunately I am having to appeal again to anyone who has knowledge of laser pointers being used in a dangerous manner in the area of Lydd.

This is now the FIFTH incident since end of November 2024 with the latest one being yesterday (12/02) at approximately 18:30.

Yet again the Coastguard's helicopter was targeted as it was lifting from Lydd airport.

Ths laser being used is blue in colour and although shining any coloured laser at aircraft is dangerous and a criminal offence, blue lasers can be particularly harmful to the human eye.

I suspect that whoever is responsible is a child and may not realise the danger of their actions so can I respectfully ask that you share this post on social media so that it reaches as many people as possible before we have a major incident take place.

Parents, please can I ask that you speak with your children and make them aware of the dangers of laser pens/pointers even if your child doesn't possess one and to any parent who knows that their children have one of these devices or you own one and its gone missing, please can you ensure that you find and secure it.
