Plant Machinery Thefts on building sites in Sevenoaks


Kent Police are investigating a spate of thefts and incidents of interference with plant machinery in the Sevenoaks area. The incidents have occurred over the past week, affecting several building sites.

Crimes

On 12th January 2025 at approximately 20:10, it was reported that two suspects accessed a building site on Bradbourne Vale Road and tampered with the ignition box of a digger. 

The following night, on 13th January 2025 at 21:20, two unknown suspects trespassed onto the same building site on Bradbourne Vale Road. This time, they tampered with an Excavator and stole a Dumper truck.

Another incident occurred on Mount Harry Road on 14th January 2025, where two males climbed a fence to gain entry to a building site. They caused damage to a Dumper vehicle, including tampering with its ignition barrel.

 

Appeal

Kent Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to come forward. If you witnessed any suspicious activity or have any information about the thefts, please contact Kent Police on 101, quoting the relevant reference numbers: 

  • 46/6605/25 for the Bradbourne Vale Road interference
  • 46/71183/25 for the Bradbourne Vale Road theft
  • 46/7816/25 for the Mount Harry Road incident.

Residents with CCTV cameras or dashcam footage are also encouraged to review any relevant footage that may assist the investigation.

Crime Prevention Advice

  • If you work in the building trade or live near a construction site, be vigilant for suspicious activity.
  • Ensure all plant machinery and vehicles are secured when not in use, and consider installing tracking devices for easy recovery.
  • Secure fencing around building sites and consider additional lighting or security cameras to deter criminals.
