General information.

Hello all.

Just a polite reminder that if you're using your own vehicle to deliver takeaway food, you ‘must’ have ‘business’ insurance on your policy otherwise your insurance company will probably not cover your if you have a collision and in any case if you are stopped by the police, the officer can seize your vehicle and report you for not having the correct insurance.

I stopped a driver this evening under these circumstances. It will be the driver's responsibility that they have the correct insurance to use their vehicle for business purposes and the employer should check that this is the case too.

Cannabis-I would hope that most people would know that Cannabis is a class B drug and is is illegal to possess, this doesn't mean just in public, it's anywhere including your home.

My colleague PC James Hockless, along with colleagues from the Community Safety Unit in Folkestone discovered Cannabis being grown at an address in the Lydd area, the home owner was dealt with for this and the Cannabis seized for destruction.

I know that the above information only relates to a small minority of people but for those who didn't know I thought I'd share it with you.

James has been busy! He managed to stop and search a vehicle and its two occupants under Section 2 of the Poaching Prevention Act 1862 following reports of a vehicle allegedly being engaged in this type of activity, as a result, he seized items in relation to the offence and gathered intelligence about the vehicle and occupants which has been passed on to Kent Police's Rural Task Force.

I've been dealing with a few reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Lydd and New Romney for which I now have names of the individuals involved and they will be seeing me soon!

We are not the fun police, honest we're not, but when ASB affects someone's quality of life or their business, we will do everything possible to put a stop to it. It's not always easy to do so but we do try and in these two cases, having CCTV always helps especially when you've worked in the area for some years and recognise them!

Thank you.

Steve.
