Additional Beat Officer!!

Good evening.

I thought I'd just give you a very brief update on policing the Marsh.

Firstly, no I haven't been using extremely expensive face cream to make me look younger, that'll be my new and younger colleague PC 13421 James Hockless who is based at Lydd Police Station with me and also uses our Ford Ranger police car!!

This is really good news for yourselves and indeed me because there's now two of us here dedicated to the Marsh and James's knowledge of the area is very good as he was previously a response officer based down here, same as me.

I will let him introduce himself formally another time on here.

We are both dedicated to policing the Marsh by disrupting those who commit crime and cause anti-social-behaviour (ASB) which we recognise are probably the two main things that can have the most detrimental effect on people's daily lives.

Already between us we have gleaned a lot of information and intelligence regarding the crime types that are happening across the Marsh and are actively pursuing and disrupting those individuals but that's all I can say on that subject for obvious reasons!!

I'd like to reiterate that although you are very welcome to contact us direct via email which is preferable, please report any crimes via the Kent Police website in the first instance.

For example

There is a crime in progress-ring 999.

A crime has happened and doesn't need immediate attendance-report via the Kent Police website or ring 101 if you're not too good with technology or you aren't able to get someone to assist you with reporting it online.

Then after you have officially logged the crime, you can email us to let us know, although what you report will filter down to us very quickly anyway.

There are a couple of important reasons for the above advice, James and I might be off duty or busy dealing with something else and the other main reason is that the crime needs to be logged properly so that a crime or incident report reference can be generated and the most appropriate department can be directed to deal with the matter.

Even ‘suspicious incidents’ can be reported via the Kent Police website and certainly any ASB incidents need to be reported please.

I am very grateful to those who share these posts on social media such as Facebook as the information gets out to even more people.

However. we cannot respond directly to any questions or comments on Facebook but if you do have a question about anything that we post on here, please feel free to email us and bear with us regarding a reply because as mentioned above we might be off duty or dealing with another matter.

In other news I was lucky enough to attend the ‘Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas’ at All Saint's Church Lydd last Friday after being invited by Lydd Town Council, it was a fantastic few hours apart from the weather we all had to endure afterwards!!

Unfortunately I had to decline an invite by Mr Mayor of New Romney for an event the same evening but for operational reasons, the Lydd event was more of a priority but I am very grateful for the invite all the same.

That's all for now!

Thank you

Steve and James.
