Hello Resident,
At the beginning of the year we conducted several anti social behaviour surveys via My Community Voice. Thankyou to those who participated.
Out of 166 surveys completed in the Victoria Ward the top three issues were listed as: Alcohol related ASB/Street Drinking and drug use.
Out of 96 surveys completed in the Stanhope area the top three issues were listed as: Drug Use, Criminal Damage and Littering
We have been working hard to address your concerns. In Victoria Ward a number of Community Protection Warnings, notices and orders have been issued to a group of people congregating in the town centre causing numerous issues. We have been successful in securing convictions for breaches of these orders. Similarly, officers have worked closely with Ashford Borough Council to enforce the conditions of the PSPO (Public Spaces Protection order) and a number of on the spot fines have been issued. We have seen a large decrease in alcohol related ASB within the town centre and will continue to patrol and monitor this area.
The top issue in Stanhope area was drug usage and we have been working hard to address this. There have been a number of good work stories posted on MCV. Recently, information was received by a concerned resident about a suspicious vehicle in their area. Beat Officers looked into this and linked it to an address. Enquiries were completed at the address and 3 people were arrested for being concerned in the supply of drugs. A large quantity of drugs and cash were seized and Kent Police are working hard to secure a conviction against the offenders. Similarly, we have been targeting drug drivers. A number of road users have been subject to roadside drug tests. Those who have tested positive have been arrested and will be sent to court for prosecution.
A number of stop and searched have also been completed in both areas which has resulted in a quantity of drugs being seized from numerous individuals and them being arrested.
We will continue to work hard to address the problems in your area. If you would like to provide any information then you can do this via the Kent Police website, 101 (non emergency) or 999 (emergency). Alternatively you can report information via Crimestoppers Giving information anonymously | Crimestoppers
We will continue to try and address the top issues in your area. We have created a new ASB survey which only takes a few moments to complete. I invite you to complete the survey via the below link so we have an up to date idea of what issues we need to focus on
