Halloween Advice

Hi Medway.

Halloween is fast approaching and although it is supposed to be a fun time for all some people dread the season and worry about the knocks on the door and what nuisance children/teenagers may do to our cars and houses. I thought it would be a good idea to give you some advice about dealing problems that the season may bring.

Attached is the Kent police poster to print and display in your window. This should help detour any trick or treaters from knocking on your door.

Medway community safety unit (my department) have put on extra patrols especially dedicated to combatting the antisocial behaviour in Medway and even more extra patrols on Halloween itself!

Beat officers have been out & will be out providing advice to shops and strongly suggesting that they limit the sale of eggs and toilet paper to younger people.

Report! If you feel victimised by this behaviour and you are in fear, then report to us via online reporting and live chat. Remember to include.

  • What exactly has happened in detail
  • The exact time of incidents
  • Who has been involved, or a description of involved parties if you don’t know names.
  • The location of your property or vehicle
  • If you have any CCTV, ring doorbell or phone footage.
  •

Quite often our child centred policing team will recognise offenders and be able to visit them at home or school the next morning to make sure that they don’t get away with this behaviour.
